Green Crescent Received the “Community Support Award” with Its Project for the “YEDAM Covid-19 Psychological Support Line”

Green Crescent has received the “Community Support Award ” with its project for the “Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM) Covid-19 Psychological Support Line” at the “Shared Tomorrows ” Award Program organized by the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK). Among the 128 projects in its category, the project was selected for the award as one that touched the fabric of society, providing support and generating solutions towards the needs of the society.

Green Crescent General Manager M. Nurullah Atalan, touching on Green Crescent’s 100 years of service in the name of public health, said the following:
“Since its foundation, Green Crescent has been working for a healthy and good life. This year we celebrated our 100th anniversary with the slogan “To Many Healthy Generations.” We know how important physical, spiritual, and mental health is for the proliferation of healthy generations, and value supporting our citizens by being by their side. This period of Covid-19 is a period in which we stay at home, have fewer social interactions, travel less, and experience increased anxiety. Foreseeing the possibility that our citizens may need psychological support at the very beginning of these uncertain times, we brought to life the “Covid-19 Psychological Support Line” project within the scope of the Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM). With this project, we were able to provide counseling by phone line to a total of 2,286 and online therapy services to 73 people. The interest of and feedback from our citizens were for us the best result of this project, and now we are happy to receive this award for the project. With this first special award program “Shared Tomorrows”, held in the scope of Turkey’s fight against Covid-19 and its effects in the field of social responsibility, we promise once more that we will continue to work ceaselessly for our shared tomorrows.”

Free psychological support provided during pandemic

Green Crescent established the “Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM) Covid-19 Psychological Support Line” to provide free services to everyone who experiences severe anxiety and symptoms of psychological disorders during the pandemic. “Methods of Coping with Anxiety” training was given to psychologists helping people through the line. Citizens were able to receive free support by contacting YEDAM's clinical psychologists by dialing 444 9801. In addition to call-by-phone service, 100 psychologists responded to requests by conducting online sessions for approximately two months in the early stages of the pandemic.
