The Turkish Green Crescent Brings Together the World's Leading Scientists at the 5th International Congress of Technology Addiction

Drawing attention to the significance of a good and healthy living free of addictions for 101 years, Green Crescent organizes the 5th International Congress of Technology Addiction online on June 2-3, 2021 to prevent the negative consequences of technology and Internet on people’s lives and to raise awareness.

Digital technologies are playing an even greater role in our lives with each passing day. Especially, dysfunctional technology use produces negative effects on children and young people in particular. Behavioral addictions such as online gaming and online gambling disorders are spreading among both adults and children and young people alike. The quarantine period, which started with the COVID-19 pandemic, has further accelerated this trend.

The Congress discusses seven themes in the field of digital addictions

At the 5th International Congress of Technology Addiction, by drawing attention to the technology-and Internet-based behavioral addictions; important themes such as digital gaming, online gambling, online pornography, excessive use of smartphones and social media, effects of COVID-19 on behavioral addictions and guidelines for families on digital addictions will be discussed.
 
Leading scientists in the field of digital addictions from various countries of the world, including the United States, Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, South Korea, India, England, Switzerland, Canada, Malaysia, Nigeria and Thailand will attend the 5th International Congress of Technology Addiction.
 
The two-day online congress is aimed at:

  • Reviewing the current global situation regarding technology-and Internet-based behavioral addictions;

  • Holding detailed discussions on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on behavioral addictions;

  • Discussing prevention, treatment, policy, and advocacy activities in various countries;
