80 Country Green Crescents Meet for the 5th time

Green Crescent is organizing the 5th International Capacity Building Program of Green Crescent online this year. Green Crescent is coming together with 80 Country Green Crescents between the dates of 8-10 December.  

During the 5th International Capacity Building Program of Green Crescent’s annual seminars on tobacco, alcohol, drug, gambling and technology addictions, this year, the relationship between these addictions and Covid-19 will also be addressed. Over 200 participants are expected to participate in the Capacity Building Program, at which local and regional presentations by the International Federation of Green Crescent (IFGC) member countries will be held.

The effect of the Covid-19 period on addictions will be at the forefront of the program during which will be discussed the determination of the visions of the 80 International Federation of Green Crescent (IFGC) member countries for the next period, addiction prevention programs, exemplary projects carried out by countries, their benefitting effectively from the International Financial Support Program by the Turkish Green Crescent, and their development as aided by the leadership of the Republic of Turkey.

During the program for which Prof. Mücahit Öztürk, the President of Green Crescent, and Prof. İhsan Karaman, the President of the International Federation of Green Crescent will make opening remarks, Dr. Mehmet Dinç, the Acting President of the Turkish Green Crescent Society will make a presentation on the topic “Covid-19 and behavioral addictions”. Throughout the 3-day program, we will hear the most recent information on “COVID-19 and Substances” from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Addiction Prevention Department Chief Giovanna Campello, “Covid-19 and Tobacco” from the WHO Country Office in Turkey Director Prof. Toker Ergüder, and “Covid-19 and Alcohol” from the Drug-Free America Foundation Managing Director and the World Federation Against Drugs (WFAD) President Amy Ronshausen, as the Green Crescent shares its experience on addiction prevention during Covid-19 period.
